Italian Serie A
2011-12-21 - Bologna vs A.S Roma
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Match Preview :
Bologna have a mountain to climb for this match as they ahve not beaten Roma at home for seven years. The last time they beat Roma at home was way back in September 2004. The home side are just three points away from relegation and they will hope to get their fifth win at home this season. But this will only be their first win in six games if they can beat Roma.
Stefano Pioli will hope that Marco Di Vaio with a record of seven goals against Roma in the League can score here and get them the three points. In fact Di Vaio and Gaston Ramirez have scored seven of Bologna’s last nine goals that is why they are both relied on so heavily.
But it should be noted that Roma are unbeaten in seven games against Bologna in Serie A, thanks to four wins and three draws. And for the record, in the last two meetings at the Renato Dall’Ara, Roma have won without conceding a single goal. Francesco Totti is the man to watch for the visitors as he has supplied two assists in the last two games.
One statistic the hosts does not need reminding is in the last 25 meetings between the sides, Bologna have won five, drawn six, and lost 14.
Team News :
For the Magpies, Haris Vuckic or Mehdi Abeid are the likely candidates to replace the suspended Yohan Cabaye in midfield. Cabaye, misses out due to a one match suspension. Ex-Manchester United man Gabriel Obertan is expected to continue on the wing despite him being the subject of abuse from a section of the fans in their last match against Swansea.
Two players who will play no part will be Danish striker Peter Lovenkrands, who faces three weeks out with a calf problem, and defender Steven Taylor, who is out for the rest of the campaign following Achilles surgery.
As for West Brom, midfielder James Morrison, who scored their opener at Blackburn, misses out with a hamstring injury. Utility man Paul Scharner and midfielder Steven Reid will need to be cautious as one more booking and they will miss their next clash. Hodgson has recalled the likes of Gonzalo Jara Reyes, George Thorne and Marc Antoine-Fortune from Brighton, Portsmouth and Doncaster respectively to bolster the side.
