Italian Serie A
2011-12-21 - Udinese vs Juventus
A Sports Betting Pick by ROzsolt
Football: Seria A
Venue: Stadio Friulani, Udine
Wednesday 21th December – Kickoff time: 18:00 GMT+1
Udinese (3rd W-9 D-4 L-2)
Udinese is the only Seria A team with a 100 percent record on home soil this season. In the seven games played so far at “Stadio Friuli”, the home side only conceded two goals.
On their previous league match Udinese shared points with Lazio in Rome. Di Natale, who came in as a substitute had a major contribution in scoring the second goal which earned them a draw, finding Pinzi in a great position.
Gabriel Torje who was brought from Dinamo Bucuresti to replace Alexis Sanchez was quite a letdown this season, but the age is on his side and Guidolin also defended him saying that he needs time to adjust to this new league.
Di Natale is still Udinese’s key player, he already scored 10 goals this season which makes him the third best scorer from the league. He is not only the top scorer of the team, but he is Udinese’s leader as well, I wonder what will happen to them when he’ll no longer be around.
The most important absence for Udinese will be the Moroccan centre back Mehdi Benatia due to card accumulation, which is definitely not good news for Guidolin.
Probable Udinese line-up :
Ferronetti, Danilo, Domizzi
Basta, Isla, Pinzi, Asamoah, Armero
Abdi
Di Natale
Juventus (2nd W-9 D-6 L-0)
Juventus is the only team from Seria A yet to lose a game this season, but they’ll face the tightest defense from the league, a team that won every home game so far.
Only Lazio collected more points on their travels than Juventus, which is impressive for the bianconeri considering the opponents they’ve met (Inter, Lazio, Napoli, Roma).
Mirko Vucinic is still injured so he’ll probably be replaced by Fabio Quagliarella, who managed to score the second goal in their previous home game against Novara.
Despite comfortably winning against Novara (2-0), coach Conte was less than pleased with the high number of wasted opportunities, declaring that in order to win against Udinese they’ll need to be more efficient.
Probable Juventus line-up :
Lichtsteiner, Barzagli, Bonucci, Chiellini
Vidal, Pirlo, Marchisio
Pepe, Matri, Quagliarella
The Betting Verdict
Despite having a perfect home record, Udinese did not played at home against any team from the top 6 and with Juventus showing great strength this season, I found it hard to believe that they’ll be able to maintain their 100% record.
Let’s not forget that Juventus won here 4-0 in the previous season against an Udinese side that looked way better on the paper. On the other hand, Udinese with what is in my opinion a great coach on their side, does have the quality to win against any team from Seria A, home or away.
Juventus only failed to score on one away game this season, in the goalless draw against Chievo, while Udinese scored in every game played at home, which is logical since they won it all. I would say that the draw is the most likely result, but this clash could produce a fair number of goals, so I’ll choose both teams to score at 1.83.
