Match Preview :

Battle of the bottom of the table as Blackburn welcome the visit of Bolton and Steve Kean as well as Owen Coyle would be eager to avoid defeat as they could pay the price for it. This North West Derby will have so much on it as it is a Christmas relegation six pointer and a potential win or face the sack encounter for both of the bosses on show.

Blackburn Manager Steve Kean is feeling the pressure as local newspapers and the fans want him out of the club. Defeat for either side on Tuesday would leave them bottom of the pile at Christmas, and history suggests that the bottom team at Christmas usually ends up being relegated. Blackburn's recent form does not make good reading as they have won just one of their last 11 top flight fixtures. They have also gone 19 games since they last kept a clean sheet, conceding 40 goals in the process.

It should be noted that Blackburn have dropped more points from from winning positions this term (12) than any other Premier League team. Bolton have little to be happy about as they make the short trip to Ewood Park. That is because they have lost six of their last nine top flight meetings with Blackburn and cannot afford a defeat here. Interestingly we can expect a winner here as Bolton have become the first team to go 16 games from the start of a Premier League season without drawing a game to date!

Team News :

Blackburn will be without a quartet of experienced defenders for this match. Scott Dann has been ruled out for six weeks with a groin injury and he joins Ryan Nelsen, Michel Salgado and Gael Givet on the injury list. The good news is that Junior Hoilett has recovered from a hamstring strain and is available to start.

For Bolton, defender David Wheater serves the final game of a four-match suspension and will be missing from Bolton's squad as a result. Meanwhile, defender Sam Ricketts will step up his bid for a first-team comeback with a game for the reserves this week but this game comes too soon for him. Midfielder Stuart Holden has returned to the club from the United States after undergoing rehabilitation on a serious knee injury, but Coyle will select from the same squad which lost to Fulham last weekend.

Possible lineups
