PREVIEW
The Nashville Predators are riding a nice 3 game winning streak coming into this game with the Detroit Red Wings, but then so are their visitors.
The Predators actually got thumped 4-1 at the end of November by these very Red Wings, and although the result may well be closer tonight, I see Detroit leaving with a win.
Detroit are 19-9-1 now and come here off a very impressive win over Pittsburgh, not the easiest place to go. Detroit won 4-1 over the Penguins, having already handled the likes of Phoenix and the difficult Winnipeg Jets. They have had a day off yesterday, which works well to their advantage in this spot.
Nashville are now 15-11-4, and despite the 3 win streak, they look unconvincing. You see, this streak was preceeded with a run of just 2 wins in 9 games, and even now they've won a few, all 3 wins have come by the slimmest of margins, a single goal.
Nashville have had Colin Wilson to thank for the winning goal in 2 of their last 3 wins, but a more valuable player can be found in Detroit's Pavel Datsyuk, who has amassed 54 points in 53 career meetings against Nashville. Datsyuk is on a roll at the moment, registering at least a point in 11 of the Red Wings last 13 games, and has multiple points in their last 3, including a goal and an assist against Pittsburgh.
BETTING VERDICT
The only danger I see here for Detroit is Nashville's improved Power Play in these last few games.
I see the Predators keeping it close, but in the end Detroit will leave with a win. I'll take the Detroit Red Wings to win in regulation at a tasty price.
