Match Preview :
Both teams knows it is do or die tonight as only one team can progress further. And German side Bayer Leverkusen took control of Group E on the last matchday after their win over Chelsea in the last clash. Bayer face the group minnows Racing Genk in their final game, and are expected to cruise to a win in that match.
Chelsea and Valencia knows everything is to play for in this match with Bayer Leverkusen expected to get the win against Racing Genk in Belgium. Chelsea go into the match knowing a win for them, or a goalless draw will guarantee their progress, whilst Valencia need a win or a score draw.
For the record, Chelsea have never failed to progress from the group stage of the Champions League, but boss Andre Villas-Boas is not taking any chances here.
Meanwhile, Unai Emery has likened the match to a 'final' knowing it is a do or die clash for them. He has stated that they are only thinking of going there to win the match and are aware that 1-1 or any sort of score draw will see them through, so depending on the situation they can change the way they play.
It should be noted here that Valencia come into the match off the back of some particularly impressive form with seven wins from the last eight outings - with their only loss coming at the hands of Real Madrid. Chelsea in contrast have been anything but consistent with three wins from their last seven matches and Andres Villas-Boas is a man under pressure to deliver the results.
Team News :
Chelsea is unlikely to make much changes from the side that beat Newcastle 3-0 last weekend. One likely change could be Jose Bosingwa coming back at full back to replace David Luiz which would allow Branislav Ivanovic to move into the middle.
Fernando Torres is likely to remain on the bench as Didier Drogba keeps his place upfront.
As for the visitors, Valencia are still waiting on the condition of Argentine midfield ace Ever Banega, but he looks unlikely to make the game due to strained knee ligaments. Central defender Victor Ruiz is another doubt and, if he does not feature, Angel Dealbert will replace him in the side.
Jonas, Sofiane Feghouli and in-form striker Roberto Soldado were all rested by Emery at the weekend, which means they are ready and raring to go in this match.
Predictions :
Take Chelsea to keep that record of never failing to qualify and give the 3/4 ball here.
Cheers and good luck,
