2011-10-29 - Swindon Town vs Bradford City
A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football – England – League Two
Saturday 29th October 2011 – Kickoff: 1500hrs
Rapidly improving Swindon Town will be seeking their fourth successive win when they entertain lowly Bradford City at the County Ground on Saturday afternoon, and at the same time strengthen their play-off position in the division.
Swindon Town
Swindon have recorded three wins in as many games recently with victories at Accrington Stanley 2-0 and Plymouth Argyle 1-0, and then a 2-0 home win over Gillingham who will also have claims for promotion later on I’m sure.
The Robins are lying in seventh spot and have been impressive at home so far with a 5-1-1 18/7 record, with wins over Crewe, Rotherham, leaders Southend United, Barnet and Gillingham. They have now strung together a five match unbeaten run at home and will look to make it six when Gillingham come to town.
Matt Ritchie (6 goals, 5 assists) has been their key player this season so far, and has been assisted by Raffa De Vita (3 goals, 3 assists), Alan Connell (3 goals) and midfielder Jonathan Smith (2 goals, 2 assists), as Paulo di Canio’s men have slowly risen up the table after an indifferent start.
Honours have been pretty much shared between these two sides in previous meetings, but Swindon Town definitely hold the upper hand in terms of form and momentum going into this fixture.
Bradford City
Whilst Bradford City’s home form has been okay so far, their performances on the road have left a lot to be desired with an away record that currently stands at a woeful 0-3-5 7/14, with only Torquay, Dagenham and Plymouth scoring fewer away goals than them.
In fact, this kind of form is nothing new for the Bantams as they’ve now only won twice in their last 20 away matches at this level. Losing 0-2 at fellow strugglers Hereford United came as a blow recently and dumped them just above the drop-zone as a result.
Forward James Hanson (5 goals) is their leading scorer, but they’ve found scoring hard to come by generally, particularly away from home. Michael Flynn (3 goals) has chipped in as too has Kyel Reid (3 assists), but I don’t foresee them posing too many problems for Swindon on Saturday.
The Betting Verdict :
Given Swindon’s momentum and great home record so far, I have to take them to win this match, probably 2-0, and see the value pick as well below which is worth considering.
