2011-10-08 - Swindon Town vs Hereford United
A Sports Betting Pick by ArmchairPunter
Football – England – League Two
Saturday 8th October 2011 – Kickoff: 1500hrs
Mid-table Swindon Town take on second from bottom Hereford United as they look to get back to winning ways on familiar turf at their County Ground on Saturday.
Swindon Town
Swindon Town have suffered two away defeats on the trot which has hampered their progress up the table despite possessing a very good home record.
The Robins’ home stats stand at 4-0-1 13/4, and they will be seeking a fourth win on the trot in front of their home crowd when lowly Hereford come to town. These three wins have been over Rotherham United, Southend United and Barnet in which they’ve scored 9 goals and conceded just 2.
However, Paulo di Canio’s men won’t be taking Hereford lightly as a win today would lift them up into the edges of the top six.
Swindon also possess various attacking options; Matt Ritchie (5 goals, 3 assists) leads the way, along with forward Mehdi Kerrouche (4 goals, 2 assists) and former Grimsby Town hitman Alan Connell (3 goals) who hit 26 goals in the Conference last season before being snapped up by Swindon.
Assists have been provided by the likes of Ritchie, Callum Kennedy, Raffaele De Vita, Jonathan Smith and Kerrouche (all with 2 each).
Hereford United
Hereford travel to Wiltshire without a win in five matches, and yet to win on the road. The danger signs are there for all to see even though the season is still in it’s early stages, but just the one win in eleven matches does not look good for them.
The Bulls’ away record reads a disappointing 0-3-2 2/5 and along with bottom of the table Plymouth, are the league’s lowest away goalscorers. In fact, they have drawn a blank in three of their five matches already.
Not much to report on in terms of goalscoring/creativity either, but striker Sam Winnall (2 goals) is probably their biggest threat with the former Wolves man bagging 8 goals for Burton Albion last season, and will need to be watched closely.
Head To Head
Swindon and Hereford have met five times previously to this encounter, with Swindon winning 2, 2 draws and Hereford with just one win.
The Betting Verdict :
All in all though, this should be a comfortable win for the home side and if they can keep tabs on Winnall, should win by a two goal margin at least – hence my prediction. Swindon Town to win 2-0.
The Pick :
Swindon Town 2-0 Hereford
