English Premier
2011-10-02 - Fulham vs QPR
A Sports Betting Pick by Auls
Football : English Premier League
Sunday 2 October 2011 - Kickoff 3pm
Fulham
Fulham fans will be hoping the side can transfer some of their European form to the Premier League and move away from the relegation zone as they play their first West London Derby of the new season.
The Cottagers remain the only team in the Premier League that is yet to record a win this season and so it is no surprise to see them sitting down in 17th position. However, they have only lost 2 of their 6 League games, while they have drawn all 3 games played at Craven Cottage, scoring 3 goals and conceding 3 goals.
The performances have not been bad from Fulham but it still has to be said that their win at Odense on Thursday was their first in 9 games in all competitions. They had drawn their last 5 games in all competitions before this win and they have kept 3 consecutive clean sheets. Fulham have drawn their last 3 games at Craven Cottage in all competitions, all of those being score draws.
Aaron Hughes may return to the side if he passes a fitness test, while Matthew Briggs is unlikely to be used after he was on the end of one of the most ridiculous tackles you will see in Denmark. Moussa Dembele and Bobby Zamora should both be available.
QPR
QPR have invested wisely in their squad since the arrival of Tony Fernandes as the new owner of the club, but there is still a worry that they are a little light up front, something that should be rectified in January.
The lack of goals in the side almost cost QPR the points last week at home against Aston Villa, but they managed to earn a draw to move to 10th in the Premier League having earned their 8th point of the campaign. QPR have had more fun away from home where they are 2-0-1, scoring 4 goals and conceding 2.
QPR are unbeaten in 3 games since losing 2-0 at Wigan, and they have only conceded 1 goal in those games. However, they have also only picked up 1 win as a lack of goals at home cost them additional points. Rangers won their last game in impressive fashion when they dispatched Wolves 0-3.
Armand Traore is out through suspension when he was described as 'naive and idiotic' by his manager following the game with Villa last Sunday. Danny Gabbidon remains sidelined so Matt Connolly is likely to come into the side.
Head to Head
These two sides last met in a League game back in the 2000/01 season, with Fulham doing the double over QPR, winning both games 2-0.
Prediction
This should be a decent game for the fans in attendance on Sunday as both sides do like playing attacking football.
The biggest concern for Fulham is their ability to play on Thursday and then Sunday, but they have coped fairly well this season so far and they will be bringing in some talented players like Zamora and Dembele.
QPR have enjoyed playing away from home as they don't have the added pressure of trying to break teams down and I think they are at least good for a goal here.
I was tempted to pick the home side to win the game, but instead have decided to go with the 'Over 2.5 Goals' as I feel both sides are good for one and both teams play with an attacking purpose that could see a winner in the game.
The price for the 'Overs' is slightly better than the home win so that will be my pick for this game.
