High-flying Stevenage take on Notts County at their Lamex Stadium with the home side currently occupying one of the play-off places showing promising early form in their debut campaign in League One.

Manager Graham Westley has worked wonders with this former non-league outfit and has Stevenage playing attractive attacking football. Westley is one of the best, most respected managers at lower league level and cannot be underestimated. Stevenage are also a free-scoring unit at the moment and are the leading goalscorers at home with 11 goals.
Their home record stands at 2-2-0 11/5, and Stevenage have chalked up impressive wins over Rochdale 4-2 and Sheffield Wednesday, one of the hotly tipped favourites for automatic promotion, 5-1. They also drew with Exeter City 0-0 and Hartlepool United 2-2.
Goals have not been hard to come by for Stevenage with forward Craig Reid (4 goals), midfielder Chris Beardsley (3 goals), and assists have been coming thick and fast through Lawrie Wilson (3 assists), Darius Charles (2 assists) and Michael Bostwick (2 assists).
It must be kept in mind though that Stevenage are playing at this level for the first time and will be likely to concede goals as well against stronger opposition.
Notts County
Notts County have also strung together a run of three matches without a loss with back-to-back wins over Bournemouth 3-1 and Walsall 2-1, then gaining a point at Exeter City 1-1 in midweek.
The Magpies’ away form has been a little sketchy with stats of 1-1-2 5/5, but it’s interesting to note that they’ve failed to score just once in their last nine away matches, including a 1-1 away draw at Juventus recently!
With attacking personnel such as experienced striker Lee Hughes (3 goals, 1 assist), midfielder Jeff Hughes (3 goals, 1 assist), Cristian Montano (3 goals) and forward Ben Burgess who notched his first goal of the campaign at Exeter.
Alan Sheehan has provided 3 assists so far but County also have a strong midfield capable of creating numerous chances in front of goal.
The Betting Verdict
Two attacking footballing teams then face off in this fixture and I’m expecting both to register on the scoresheet – perhaps Stevenage just nicking it 2-1 as a possible scoreline.
