PREVIEW
Fulham are my second team and, just like my favourites Arsenal, they have managed to qualify for Europe but are still without a win. Fulham have just 1 point from their opening games but now have a chance of a win. They play Blackburn, who are all the way down in 19th!
Fulham have turned Craven Cottage into a bit of a fortress recently. Looking at their last 10 games here, only Liverpool have managed to win. In those 10 games Fulham have won no fewer than 6 times, and kept 7 clean sheets! They have also tonked in close to 2 goals a game!
Martin Jol has strengthened his side further before the transfer window closed at the end of August. Zdenek Grygera has been brought in to add some experience and also cover for the injury that has sidelined John Arne Riise. Bryan Ruiz is the exciting one though, as the Costa Rican who top scored in the Dutch Eredivisie with 24 goals also came over to West London.
I was very impressed with Fulham in their game against Aston Villa. Keeping the midlands team off the scoresheet is no easy task, and it leads me to believe they should be able to frustrate Blackburn with a lot more ease.
Blackburn have been pretty dire in their opening matches. They have lost all 3 and the last match was by far the worst. Having lost 2-1 to Wolves and 3-1 to Aston Villa (note the contrasting performances against the same team!) Blackburn had not 1 but 2 penalties against Everton and f*cked them both up. Sorry, but that really is the only phrase that will do. It came back to bite them right at the death when Everton got awarded their own spotkick, duly scored and pulled their shirts over their heads.
Blackburn don't seem to be clicking at all. New management have brought in Yakubu from Everton and Scott Dann from Birmingham but I simply do not believe. Kean is not a popular manager and deservedly so, under his stewardship they have won just 5 games in the league in total. They got beaten here 3-2 last year but something tells me they will do well to score once, let alone twice.
BETTING VERDICT
The under does look appealing but Blackburn could well allow a bunch to ruin that bet. I can see Fulham really troubling Blackburn here and the increased pressure should see a lot of this played in the Blackburn side of the pitch.
If not goals, Fulham should win a lot of corners with the pressure? The previous Blackburn game had 3 penalties awarded to maybe we might see Fulham take one. No chance they miss though.
