Match Preview :
Friday Night Football sees the start of Serie A and we have an interesting clash on the cards as A.C Milan begin their title defence against a Lazio side that made the surprise impact throughtout the season for a top four placing.
Milan started the season on a winning note when they beat Inter Milan last month for the Italian Super Cup title. This match has been brought earlier to enable A.C Milan to prepare for their midweek Champions League trip to Barcelona and that test could have a strong effect on Massimiliano Allegri’s lineup ahead of this tie.
We could see the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic being rested having played international duty for Sweden in midweek. And with the likes of Alexandre Pato, Antonio Cassano, Pippo Inzaghi and Stephan El Shaarawy all available there is more then enough strikers available in their lineup. Robinho doubtful though while Philippe Mexes, Taye Taiwo and Mark Van Bommel are out injured.
To make matters worse, Mathieu Flamini is out for five to six months after damaging knee ligaments in the Trofeo Berlusconi.If Zlatan Ibrahimovic starts then he will be supported by Pato and Kevin-Prince Boateng, otherwise Cassano will start. Allegri has stated that Alberto Aquilani or Antonio Nocerino might get their Milan debut in this match.
As for Lazio, Miroslav Klose played two internationals for Germany over the past week and could burn out here if he is featured at the age of 32 is no longer young. Djibril Cissè sprained his ankle in training but has recovered in time ahead of this clash. However, the likes of Stefan Radu, Lorik Cana, Giuseppe Sculli and Marius Stankevicius will miss this clash due to injuries.
Goalkeeper Federico Marchetti must wait a while longer to make his return after a year in the stands at Cagliari due to a one match suspension so Albano Bizzarri starts between the posts.
Edy Reja decided to send Mauro Zarate to Inter and his decision will be watched closely by the fans. And if Klose is risked from the start, then Cissè will remain on the left side of a supporting trident attack with Hernanes and Stefano Mauri.
While on the other hand if the German does not start then former Liverpool and Panathinaikos hitman Cissè will start in centre forward position.
Lazio pushed for fourth place last season until the end of the season and this season will be determined to go further. However the omens are against them as they have not won at San Siro in Serie A since a 1-0 result on September 3, 1989.

Prediction :
It must be noted that Lazio are unbeaten at San Siro since September 2008. That was followed by a Coppa Italia win and two draws.
And with Milan having their eye on Barcelona in upcoming midweek Champions League action, I will go for Lazio and accept the 3/4 ball here.
