PREVIEW
Who could blame the Baggies if their heads dropped? West Bromwich should have had points from both their opening games but ended up emptyhanded despite scoring. They went down 2-1 against both Manchester United and Chelsea and then slumped to a third loss against Stoke 1-0. They now play Norwich, but I fear West Brom might not have an easy time up at Carrow Road.
Norwich have not been beaten on their own patch in the league since early December last year. They have 8 wins and 6 draws in that time and come in on the back of an admirable fight-back against Chelsea, although they did lose late on.
Compare this to West Brom, who were not very good on their travels last year, giving up more goals than 18 other Premier League teams! They also won just 4 away games.
There are key injuries to Hodgsons Baggies, with Shane Long, scorer of both their goals so far, struggling with a calf injury. Odemwingie, who scored the most goals for the Baggies last season, is also quite possibly out with an ankle injury. It doesn't look good.
The Baggies have a tendency to let in a lot of goals, as I mentioned. That is down to the way Hodgson has them playing. The attacking brand of football they employ now means they have a few great performances and even results to show for them, but they are vulnerable at the back because of it. With no points after 3 games, they are sure to have a go against the Premier League new boys and with Norwich quite capable of doing damage here at home, it would take courage to bet on the Baggies winning.
Norwich have done well so far in their 3 games, gaining 2 draws and a loss against Chelsea when they really almost should have managed another 1-1 draw. Their play was impressive, and their attitude was spot on. They will know this is a huge chance of a scalp and I feel they will take it.
BETTING VERDICT
I was going to suggest Norwich on the level ball at 1.85 but with both teams likely to have a right old go here, perhaps the Over would be a better idea at over evens!
