Match Preview :

Queen Park Rangers were beaten by Bolton 4-0 in their opening clash but since then they have cause for optimism after the recent takeover by Malaysian businessman Tony Fernandes of the side. Manager Neil Warnock has to do with what he has against Everton as it is too soon to get the cash needed to buy players ahead of this clash. But he will be seeking some funds from the new owner before the transfer window closes.

It has to be said that QPR has a good away record last season as they lost just four times on the road in 2010-11 in the English Championships and also by their hosts poor start in recent years there could be a shock on the cards here. Everton last won their first league encounter of the season in August 2007 when they defeated Wigan Athletic 2-1 at home and the statistics have shown that since then they have lost all of their opening day matches.

Everton did not play their match last weekend due to the London riots so have yet to get a taste of Premiership action. Everton also does not have a good history against QPR as they have managed just two victories in eight Premier League meetings against QPR, with the London side winning five. The last time the two sides clashed with each other was in April 1996, with QPR winning 3-1.

Last season Everton finished seventh in the Premiership and missing out on a Europa League slot by a considerable eight points. Everton kn ows that competition will be harder for places in Europe so it is important they get off with a win in this match.
