PREVIEW
Atlanta are on a 2 game skid but still have a 4 game lead on the defending World Series champions, who are in town to open a 4 game series that could see them pull level in the NL wild-card race.
The Braves were on a 5 game winning streak before this recent blip, and will send out ace Tim Hudson to get them back on track. Hudson is in fine form, going 7-1 with a 2.07ERA in his last 10 starts, all of which have been excellent.
Hudson has a 12-7 overall record with a 3.18ERA and owns a 2.71ERA at home. His form seems to be getting better and better, and looking back at just his last 3 starts gives a 3-0 record with a 1.69ERA! Hudson is 6-4 with a 3.43 ERA in 14 career starts against the champions.
The Giants start Madison Bumgarner, who is 7-11 with a 3.63ERA. He comes into this match having pitched well in his last 2 starts, although they were both at home on the west coast. His last match saw him blank the Pittsburgh Pirates, but at home that doesn't merit as much praise as the Pirates are absolutely awful at the moment.
Bumgarner has pitched against the Braves once this season, getting hit for 4 runs, 3 of which were earned, in just over 2 innings!
