Play-Off Semi Final 1st Leg
Saturday 14th May 2011 – Kickoff 12.45pm
Bournemouth entertain Huddersfield Town in Saturday's early kick-off play-off semi final at Dean Court and will look to upset the apple-cart with a home win over their Yorkshire opponents.
AFC Bournemouth
Bournemouth just snuck into the play-offs despite losing 1-2 at home to Rochdale on the final day of the regular season but will be mindful of having to improve on their recent home form as the Cherries posted a disappointing return of just two home wins in their last nine.
Incidentally, those two home wins in that stretch were over bottom-half Oldham Athletic and relegated Bristol Rovers.
The Cherries home record stood at 13-5-5 47/24, with midfielder Marc Pugh (12 goals, 11 assists) their leading scorer but everyone has chipped in with contributions such as Michael Symes (8 goals), Danny Hollands & Danny Ings (both with 7 goals), while the creativity has been predominantly supplied by Liam Feeney (4 goals, 10 assists).
It's also interesting to note that Bournemouth haven't beaten Huddersfield at home in their last five meetings between the two sides; three draws and two away wins in favour of Huddersfield Town.
Huddersfield Town
Huddersfield travel to Bournemouth looking to continue their away winning streak into the play-offs, seeking their seventh away win on the trot! Indeed, they are unbeaten on the road now for thirteen matches with their last defeat coming at Southampton where they lost 1-4 back at the end of December last year.
The Terriers away record is therefore looking very strong at 13-4-6 39/27 and will no doubt be rueing their early season away form when they lost five of those six by mid November last year! There is no doubt though that Town have tightened up a lot since then and will be formidable opponents in this semi.
Jordan Rhodes leads the way with 16 goals to his name, but is ably assisted by Anthony Pilkington (10 goals, 4 assists), midfielder Gary Roberts (9 goals, 11 assists) and Benik Afobe (5 goals, 6 assists).
