Fifth placed Swansea City will be aiming to dish out another straight defeat to visitors Ipswich Town when they host the east anglian opponents at their Liberty Stadium on Monday afternoon.
Swansea City
Swansea have relinquished their second spot following some recent indifferent results which has resulted in them not winning now in three matches so they will be keen to get back to familiar territory and get back to winning ways.
The Swans still hold a decent home record though as their stats show 13-5-3 33/10 and still remain unbeaten in their last six at The Liberty with important wins over Leeds United 3-0, Nottingham Forest 3-2 and Norwich City 3-0 to keep them in the automatic promotion frame.
However, given the form of second placed Norwich City at the moment it seems unlikely that Swansea will catch them in time and will have to settle for a play-off place. But there's still work to do as they will want home advantage when these come around.
Ipswich Town
Mid-table Ipswich Town were dealt an embarrassing home defeat at the hands of their arch rivals Norwich City last Thursday evening 1-5 and it will be interesting to see what reaction we will get in Ipswich's next fixture which is no less difficult given Swansea's home record.
The Tractor Boys recent away form has been very promising, losing just once in their last eight matches on the road including notable away wins at Cardiff City 2-0 and Burnley 2-1.
However, Ipswich haven't beaten Swansea away in their last three outings there, with their last win coming back in 1982 when incidentally both teams were in the top flight.
Ipswich's away record is inconsistent at best; 8-5-8 26/23, but as mentioned previously, they've picked their game up in recent away outings.
The Betting Verdict :
Swansea have more riding on this one than their opponents and the need is greater for a Swans win than for Ipswich. It's in Swansea's hands now so I reckon they will take this one 2-0.
The Pick :
Swansea 2-0 Ipswich
