2011-04-25 - Leicester City vs Watford

Football: England: nPower Championship
Monday 25th April 2011 – Kickoff 3pm
Leicester City and Watford clash on Easter Monday at the Walkers Stadium with both sides still desperate to keep alive their play-off hopes.
Leicester City
Leicester City are six points behind east midlands rivals Nottingham Forest who occupy that last play-off spot currently, while Watford are just five points behind. Of these two sides, Watford have the superior goal difference (+12) and this could well be a deciding factor in the final play-off wash-up.
Leicester City have had a decent season so far particularly at home where their record stands at 11-6-4 40/23, and we all know about Leeds home scoring prowess, but the Foxes are not too far behind them (just 6 goals in fact) and another high scoring match could be in the offing today with visitors Watford.
Andy King (14 goals, 4 assists), Paul Gallagher (10 goals, 6 assists) along with Richie Wellens (2 goals, 8 assists) are the main danger men but they also have the likes of Yakubu Aiyegbeni (7 goals, 5 assists), Darius Vassell (4 goals, 1 assist) and Steve Howard (4 goals, 3 assists).
The Foxes will also be keen to return to winning ways at home following two straight defeats on the road to Reading and rivals Nottingham Forest.
Watford
Watford sit just one point and one place above their opponents today, and will also be gunning for all three points to keep up with the play-off pack. The Hornets ground out a 1-0 home win over Barnsley on Saturday but I fancy this fixture will be a different paced match altogether given the personnel on the pitch.
The Hornets away record stands at 7-6-8 35/32, and are the joint highest away goal scorers in the division along with Norwich City (and we all know about the Canaries firepower!)
Watford's attacking options include strikers Danny Graham (23 goals, 9 assists) & Marvin Sordell (10 goals, 3 assists), along with veteran midfielder John Eustace (6 goals, 3 assists) who netted against Barnsley. Defender Martin Taylor has also chipped in with 6 goals.
Head-to-head :
In the last ten meetings between these two sides, eight of them have resulted in the over 2.5 goals, and I'm expecting more of the same today given the prospect of the play-offs still a reality.
The Betting Verdict :
Both teams today have the chance of closing the gap on the play-off contenders and I'm expecting an attacking match as a result – perhaps a 2-2 draw.
The Pick :
Leicester 2-2 Watford
BEST BETTING TIP :
Main Pick : Take Over 2.5 goals
