ATLANTA BRAVES (9-12)
The Braves won last night 4-1, but there is massive difference in the quality of pitchers tonight and I reckon the Braves will get scalped tonight. Atlanta is not looking as strong as they did last year. As things stand, they have a 9-12 record and are having trouble with scoring runs. Due to their opponent, it will be hard to add to that. I'll come to that in a minute.
Tim Hudson will pitch for the Atlanta Braves this afternoon. Though a good pitcher last season, he has struggled this year and has a 2-2 record with a 4.05ERA through 4 starts. He has been very poor here at AT&T Park, starting 5 games but winning just once. He is not going to be able to dominate the San Francisco bats that were kept quiet last night
SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS (10-9)
The Giants will send out their ace today. Tim Lincecum will go for the home side, and he threw a beat on Monday in Colorado. Against the very impressive Rockies, Lincecum allowed just 1 run on 3 hits and struck out 10 through 7 2/3 innings. That is impressive form to bring into this game, as he is now 2-1 for the season with a 1.67ERA.
Tim Lincecum also has a fantastic record against the Braves, who he has dominated. Atlanta have gone 7-2 in Lincecum's last 9 starts against Atlanta, including the last outing which came in the playoffs last year. That time round, Lincecum threw a complete game 2 hit shutout, striking out 14. The Giants won the series in 4 games. Dominance, or what?
BETTING VERDICT
I'm going with the Giants to win this one on the back of another powerful pitching performance from 2 time Cy Young award winner Tim Lincecum.
