2011-04-23 - New York Yankees at Baltimore Orioles

Baseball: United States: MLB 2011
Saturday, April 23, 2011 - First Pitch 7:05 PM ET
Friday night's game between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles was rained out and will be made up at a later date. It appears both teams will start the same pitchers on Saturday that they had planned for Friday night.
The Yankees are in first place in the AL East at 10-6. Most of that is due to their 8-3 record at home as they are just 2-3 on the road so far this season.
As far as the starting pitchers for tonight, the Orioles will have right-hander Brad Bergesen on the mound. He has a decent ERA so far this season at 3.38, but he is 0-2. Bergesen, like many others, has not had much success against the Yankees. He is 0-2 with a 5.82 ERA against them in 17 innings.
The Yankees will have their best pitcher CC Sabathia on the mound. His record is a deceiving 0-2 on the year despite a sparkling 2.52 ERA. Sabathia's record against Baltimore is amazing with a 14-2 record with a 2.86 ERA. Sabathia was 5-1 against Baltimore in 2009 and won all 3 of his starts in Baltimore.
So this is a pretty obvious one. The Yankees are the much better team with their best pitcher on the mound. The Orioles are struggling to score many runs as they are averaging less than 4 runs per game.
The Yankees have also won 10 of the last 13 meetings in Baltimore. Alex Rodriguez has returned after missing 2 games with an oblique injury. The Yankees should win this game by more than 2 runs.
The Pick :
New York 7, Baltimore 3
