BOLTON WANDERERS
There is a lot being said about Arsenal and how they must be feeling having led and drawn against Liverpool and Spurs to hand back both chances to close the lead on United to just 2 points. However, Bolton come into this home game after a horrific result last weekend. The Trotters took their fans to Wembley and got humiliated 5-0. Truly ugly stuff.
I feel Bolton will not have recovered from that pasting. I don't think it will do them any good that they have to now make up for it to their fans in front of them against the best away side in the Premier League, who are out for blood themselves and quite capable of going goal crazy.
Owen Coyle gets his men to play the kind of attacking football that pleases the eye, and helps Wenger tremendously. If Coyle were to frustrate Arsenal by simply defending, they might get something out of it, but I feel they will try to have a go and get battered.
ARSENAL
Another chance handed back as Arsenal's response to Manchester United's draw with Newcastle was another squandered lead to end 3-3 with Tottenham. The Gunners lie 3rd now, behind Chelsea on goal difference, and Wenger is absolutely right in saying only 5 wins from 5 will be good enough. Even then, other results would have to go our way. It's final call at Last Chance Saloon.
Wenger's young team are more than capable of leading by a couple by HT, that is a fact no one will debate. Whether they can hold that lead is another thing. The mentality of the squad of late is not as strong as it was. The 4-0 lead they squandered, along with the gutting loss to Birmingham in the Carling Cup finals have clearly had an effect. Dodgy decisions in the Barcelona game, along with others have got this team feeling a sense of injustice, but they need to turn that anger outward and into a performance. Arsenal need to score 3 in a half and then another 4 in another half and batter someone. Just to get their mind sorted. It seems they just aren't convinced they can actually win.
Van Persie stood out for me the other day. He scored Arsenal's 3rd and should have had their 4th but his goal was ruled incorrectly ruled offside. Before that, he netted against Liverpool. The Dutchman has scored in 4 of Arsenal's last 5 matches, and has found the net in each of Arsenal's last 6 away games. You can get evens for him to score at any time, and that is a gift worth accepting.
BETTING VERDICT
I will bet on Arsenal winning this one, along with a bet on Persie to score at any time.
