Coventry City
Hosts Coventry City have put together a four match unbeaten run recently and have lost just once in their last six, and on Good Friday they will be looking to make it four wins out of their last five matches when they entertain struggling Scnthorpe United at the Ricoh Arena.
Coventry's recent rise in form has seen them pull away from the relegation danger zone and it seems they will be positioning themselves in mid-table safety for another season. The Sky Blues home record so far this season stands at 9-3-9 26/25 and reflects an indifferent home form which needs to be much better if they are to break out of this division and sample some of the high life again.
Striker Marlon King's form (11 goals, 1 assist) has coincided with Coventry’s recent good wins over Watford and Millwall at home, and a convincing 3-0 victory at Portsmouth. Their attacking options also include Gary Mc Sheffrey (8 goals, 3 assists) and Lukas Jutkiewicz (7 goals, 1 assist), along with Aron Gunnarsson (4 goals, 6 assists) while defender Richard Keogh has provided 5 assists.
Scunthorpe United
Visitors Scunthorpe United have perversely fared better away from home than in front of their home fans this season, but the fact remains they still occupy the final relegation spot and are three points adrift of closest rival Crystal Palace with time running out.
The Iron pulled off perhaps the shock of the Championship season by beating runaway leaders QPR 4-1 at home a couple of weeks ago, and closed the gap on Palace when they beat them at Selhurst Park 2-1 at the weekend.
But Scunthorpe's away form has taken a real nosedive in the past weeks (aside from the Palace result) which halted a run of nine straight defeats on the road. Their away from reads 7-0-14 20/41 and their defence has shipped 41 which is behind only Doncaster (45) and Palace (44), which is the main reason they find themselves in their current predicament.
The Betting Verdict :
Coventry are a stronger side than Palace at home and I think Scnthorpe’s away form will revert to type once again.
Coventry win 2-1.
The Pick :
Coventry City 2-1 Scunthorpe
