LIVERPOOL
The return of Kenny Dalglish has turned this team around completely. In recent games, Liverpool have defeated both the Manchester clubs when they visited Anfield and are off an excellent draw against Arsenal last weekend. Liverpool last played a week ago, while Birmingham had a tough game in midweek against Chelsea. That will tell.
Andy Carroll is off the mark for Liverpool and then there is also Suarez, their other big signing. After watching Chelsea tear Birmingham apart, I feel there is a good chance one, if not both, of these men will end up scoring. Dirk Kuyt was a constant danger against Arsenal, and was the man who stuck away the equalising penalty under tremendous pressure. He'll be another to watch out for here. Steven Gerrard is hardly being missed, as the young teenagers Dalglish has given chances to have impressed greatly.
Reina has been in excellent form here in Liverpool. The keeper has allowed opponents to score just 2 goals in his last 5 home games and with Birmingham not the best at getting goals, there is a good chance he gets another clean sheet here.
BIRMINGHAM CITY
Birmingham went to Chelsea on wednesday and, as predicted, got thrashed. The scoreline read 3-1 at the end and Birmingham's goal came through a penalty. They will now play Liverpool, with whom they have played out 7 consecutive league draws. I feel that amazing sequence will come to an end here, and it won't be Birmingham who are smiling at the end.
Birmingham City were on an unbeaten streak of 3 before losing in midweek. The Blues from Birmingham have actually been quite poor in front of goal and they will have a very hard time if Liverpool play the way they did against Arsenal. Birminghams only goal was thanks to a Chelsea foul, and the last time they faced Liverpool, they failed to score.
Birmingham have a horrible record away from home, with just 2 wins in 15 attempts this season. They are unlikely to spoil the new tough Liverpools unbeaten streak.
