2011-04-09 - Manchester United vs Fulham
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Manchester United will show that they can also play without Rooney after their leading frontmen was suspended for two matches after swearing into a television camera.
Ferguson has other options available to him as he hopes to increase his lead at the top of the Premiership table. As it stands now the Red Devils have a seven point lead at the top of the Premiership standings. But meetings with Fulham have been difficult as they have won just once in their last four encounters.
United have also kept just two clean sheets in their last nine Premier League matches, so Fulham will fancy their chances coming to Old Trafford. But United are strong at home having taken 49 points from a possible 51 in their last 17 top flight games at the Theatre of Dreams.
Fulham have other ideas as they aim to keep their place inside the top half of the Premiership. They have suffered only two defeats in their last 11 games, helping to edge them clear of the relegation battle.
Mark Hughes knows all about Ferguson having worked under him as his days as a player. He has secured two victories over his former mentor since turning to coaching, but has also suffered six defeats.
As for the team news ahead of the game, John O'Shea and Wes Brown will be back for United after suffering minor knocks. Anderson is also back in contention after coming through a reserve run-out without problems.
Rafael's knee problem, picked up against Chelsea on Wednesday, is not as bad as first feared, but he will still miss out this match. Owen Hargreaves (shoulder) and Anders Lindegaard (knee) also miss out, while Darren Fletcher is yet to shake off an illness and remains doubtful.
Meanwhile, Damien Duff is struggling with an Achilles problem and may be forced to sit out Fulham's trip to Old Trafford. Northern Ireland centre-back Aaron Hughes is expected to be involved after showing no problems from the hit to the head he suffered against Blackpool last weekend.
Striker Bobby Zamora has recovered from a bout of illness and is expected to figure after netting twice against Blackpool last weekend, but Diomansy Kamara (back) and Philippe Senderos (calf) remain out of this clash.
