IPSWICH TOWN v CRYSTAL PALACE
Football : England : nPower Championship
Saturday 9th April 2011 – Kickoff 3pm

Ipswich Town will be looking to make it three wins in a row for only the second time this season when they entertain relegation-threatened Crystal Palace at Portman Road on Saturday.

IPSWICH TOWN

The Tractor Boys have won their last two back-to-back with victories over Scnthorpe United 2-0 and a surprising 2-1 win at Burnley last weekend.

Ipswich's home form as a rule has been inconsistent which is reflected in their overall record of 8-2-9 25/27, but they have a real chance of making it a hat-trick of victories with the visit of Crystal Palace this weekend.

Striker Jason Scotland (9 goals) leads the way and is joined by Connor Wickham and David Norris (7 goals apiece), along with Sunderland old-boys Carlos Edwards (6 assists0 and Grant Leadbitter (4 assists) who were procured by Roy Keane when he was at the helm.

Ipswich have won just once at home in the last four attempts at Portman Road and will not get a better chance to improve on this record I reckon.

CRYSTAL PALACE

Crystal Palace are in all sorts of trouble on the road where they have won just once away from home all season - that was believe it or not, a 2-1 win at Norwich City back in October last year, but how fortunes have changed for both clubs since that meeting.

The Eagles have since endured a thirteen match run away from home without a win, and basically the root of the problem has been their inability to score goals on the road.

Palace's away record stands at a shambolic 1-3-15 13/41, and possess the joint lowest away goals scored along with being second only to Doncaster Rovers (42) in terms of away goals conceded.

To add insult to injury, Crystal Palace have also failed to score in 10 out of their 19 away matches so far.

Three players have been largely responsible for their goals so far; James Vaughan (9 goals, 2 assists), Neil Danns (8 goals, 4 assists) and Darren Ambrose (8 goals, 2 assists), while Wilfred Zaha (4 assists) has been their main provider.

The Betting Verdict :

Ipswich will have the greater confidence out of the two, while Palace’s confidence in away matches is almost at zero - Ipswich Town win 1-0 I reckon.

The Pick :

Ipswich Town 1-0 Crystal Palace
