Sunderland are slumping hard right now. Steve Bruce has seen his side go 7 games without a win. In fact, most of them have been defeats, including the last 2 games. Last Sunday, Sunderland were ripped to shreds as Manchester City romped to a 5-0 win. They will have their hands full with a West Brom side that is yet to taste defeat in the league under their new manager.

Since the sale of Darren Bent, this have just gotten worse for poor Sunderland. Even goals are hard to come by now, let alone wins. 6 losses and a draw since that sale went through now, and the team are a mere 6 points above the relegation zone.

Sunderland won this fixture last year 4-0, but that counts for nothing as the strongest player is gone, as is the confidence of this team by the looks of it. I find it hard to believe they will break out of this rut today and a draw would actually be a decent result against West Brom.

WEST BROM

He's at it again, isn't he? Roy Hodgson did the business at Fulham, leading them all the way to the finals of the UEFA Cup. Unfortunately, the players at Liverpool just weren't interested in fighting for him and that appointment came to a close before it had been given a decent chance. Since being appointed West Brom manager, Roy has seen his side battle their way to a 5 match unbeaten run. Respect is very much due here.

This side are a good match for Hodgsons tactics and it shows. They have not lost under him yet, and were very unlucky to only draw with Arsenal, having led them 20 until the final quarter. Last week they gave their manager the best gift as they beat Liverpool 2-1.

That win over Liverpool must have been a sweet win but more importantly this side has managed to not just get result but get them by scoring with ease. Thats 2 goals against Arsenal and Liverpool and I feel confident they could do the same against Sunderland too.

West Brom have won their last 2 matches against Sunderland, both at home though, without conceding. The scores were 3-0 from last season, and 1-0 in the game this season. West Ham are on a roll and should be even more dangerous here.

BETTING VERDICT

I would seriously suggest a good look at West Brom for this one, as they are priced at over 3.50 and that is the best value bet I can find this week.
