Europa League
2011-02-24 - Sporting Lisbon vs Glasgow Rangers
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Rangers travel to Lisbon knowing that they still have a chance to progress after the first leg ended in a 1-1 draw. However, Matías Fernández scored a vital away goal in the dying seconds at Ibrox, cancelling out a second-half header from Steven Whittaker.
However Rangers have a good record against Sporting in the knock out stages of the European Competition and will aim to use that to good effect.
In the past when these two sides have faced each other, it was Rangers who progressed to the Final with the most recent being in 2008.
As for the team news ahead of this match, captain Daniel Carriço will undergo a late fitness test to see if he can feature. The player pulled out of the disappointing 2-0 Lisbon derby defeat to Benfica at the last minute but we did get to see the return of defender Leandro Grimi, who was a first leg absentee.
Meanwhile, Simon Vukcevic will hope to feature after missing the derby clash due to a bout of gastroenteritis.
As for the visitors Rangers, David Weir has been hit by a bout of food poisoning and is doubtful for this clash. Kyle Hutton may miss out despite travelling to Lisbon.
In addition, Midfielders Steven Naismith (hamstring) and Jamie Ness (groin) have already been ruled out of the clash, while Nikica Jelavic is ineligible.
Lee McCulloch was also on the flight to Lisbon but still faces several weeks on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery while the likes of Kirk Broadfoot and Andrew Little remain out.
Take Rangers on the 3/4 ball handicap here.
Cheers and good luck,
