2011-02-22 - Blackpool vs Tottenham
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Both sides needs the points here for different reasons. Tottenham knows they can go up ti third with a win here while Blackpool are in danger of falling into the relegation zone.
A win for Tottenham would see them overtake Manchester City and emhamce their ambitions of qualifying for the Champions League for the second year in a row. That is possible as the home side have not won in their last six games, losing five, and currently have the worst home record in the division.
Blackpool's home form is a stark contrast to their away record, with just 12 points taken from 12 games on home soil. Tottenham on the other hand are one of only three clubs to have won more matches on their travels.
Ian Holloway is confident that his team can survive in the top flight if his side can do well at home as compared to their away form. But one thing is for certain is that we will see goals as Blackpool have scored in every home game this season while also failing to keep a single clean sheet.
As for the team news, for Blackpool, midfielder Elliot Grandin is waiting to learn the full extent of his hamstring injury before kickoff after being substituted early on in the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa.
Stephen Crainey will be absent again due to his ankle problem, while Brett Ormerod (groin) and Gary Taylor-Fletcher (hamstring) are also carrying knocks.
Matt Gilks still working his way back to fitness considering that Paul Rachubka is out with a knee injury. Holloway's attempts to sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan so far has not worked. That means youngster Chris Kettings could be on the bench as back-up to Richard Kingson for a second successive game.
Meanwhile, Striker Sergei Kornilenko is still a week away from being ready while fellow January recruit Salaheddine Sbai is having communication problems so Holloway is holdingh back in starting him.
As for Tottenham, they managed to beat A.C Milan 1-0 in the Champions League but Redknapp will have to make changes here. They will miss the services of Rafael van der Vaart, who has been ruled out of the game due to a calf complaint.
However, Luka Modric appeared as a substitute in Milan after a recent appendix operation and the Croatian schemer is likely to come back into the team. Also Vedran Corluka is out after suffering an injury following a two-footed challenge from Mathieu Flamini, while Jonathan Woodgate picked up an adductor muscle injury on his first appearance in 15 months.
Younes Kaboul, Tom Huddlestone, Ledley King and Welsh flyer Gareth Bale are also sidelined, but Jermaine Jenas is available after the midfielder sat out the Milan win as he is suspended.
Redknapp also has to make a decision whether Milan match-winner Peter Crouch retains his place or Jermain Defoe or Roman Pavlyuchenko are recalled.
Take Tottenham to win here.
