2011-02-01 - Arsenal vs Everton
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Arsenal welcomes Everton to the Emirates as they aim to keep up with Manchester United at the top. Arsenal are currently five points behind the Red Devils who will have to face Aston Villa at Old Trafford.
To date Arsenal have been beaten three times at home this season going down to West Brom, Newcastle and arch-rivals Tottenham. Wenger knows it is important they win at home if they want to stand a realistic chance to win the Premiership this season.
The difference between these two sides is that even though Everton lost only six matches while Arsenal five but the Toffess have drawn far too many games this season.
Arsenal are in good form ahead of this clash with five wins in league and cup competitions. However it will not be easy against Everton who are also unbeaten in five games, but their last three games have ended in stalemates. Their last match saw them hold Chelsea in the FA Cup last Saturday.
Arsenal will be eager to complete the double over Everton having beaten them 2-1 at Goodison Park earlier this season. Last season it ended in a 2-2 draw at the Emirates and the visitors would not mind a similar result once again.
As for the team news, Wenger is expected to bring back the likes of Robin van Persie, Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere having missed the 2-1 FA Cup fourth-round win over Huddersfield. But the Gunners will be without influential midfielder Samir Nasri, who is set to be sidelined for at least three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the same match. Another absentee will be Denilson, who also suffered a hamstring problem against the League One outfit although the extend of his injury is less serious and he will be back for their next match.
Centre-half Sebastien Squillaci who was back after a hamstring injury will miss this match through suspension after comitting a professional foul. In goal we will see Manuel Almunia as goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski may need surgery on his shoulder injury.
For Everton, boss Moyes will monitor the fitness of defender Tony Hibbert (virus) and striker Victor Anichebe (groin injury) ahead of kickoff before naming his lineup.
Tim Cahill has now returned after playing for Australia in the Asian Cup but Moyes is likely to give him a few days break. That means that young midfielder Jack Rodwell retains his place after the draw with Chelsea.
