MILLWALL v BARNSLEY
Football : England : Championship
Friday 28th January 2011

Its had a few weeks off and its been sorely missed. Friday night games in the Championship have been a real success story for this column (of which there have been too few), but Millwall v Barnsley offers us another opportunity for a tasty priced winner.

Ive been a big fan of Millwall both last season and this, but they are priced a little too short for Fridays visit of Barnsley. Yes, they are a tidy side under the canny stewardship of Kenny Jackett. Yes, theyve lost just three games at home all season. Yes, theyve won their last three home games. Yes theyve lost just one in 11.

But this is the Championship. Anything can happen.

Millwall conceded four at Leicester last time out and are expected to be missing a plethora of defenders on Friday. Askou is suspended, Dan Shittu has left for QPR and talismanic skipper Paul Robinson has a hamstring problem. Also likely to miss out are defenders Danny Ward and Tony Craig, and new striker Josh McQuoid.

Millwall do have new loan signing Craig Eastmond from Arsenal to boost the squad, but tor a team with the Lions limited resources, theres a lot of missing men to paper over.

This means theres limited appeal about the odds on prices.

Also managing on limited resources, Barnsley of course are infamously poor away from home, surviving each year on the back of improbably good home form.

But under Mark Robins they do have a shock result in the locker. Theyve won at Ipswich and Preston, and got a commendable draw at red hot form side Nottingham Forest a few weeks ago.

Theyve lost playmaker Andy Hamill to Wolves, but have brought in livewire striker Danny Haynes from Bristol City who will cause Millwalls defence plenty of problems, and defender Matt Hill has also come in from Wolves. They may need the latter, as centre back Stephen Foster is likely to miss out with a head injury.

A look at the form book makes this look a home win all day long. But Friday night in the Championship has a genuine habit of making a mockery of the form book.
