Match Analysis :
Newcastle have appointed Alan Pardew as the new Manager and it will be interesting to see how he take on Liverpool in his first match after his controversial signing for five and a half years.
It was a strange decision as former boss Chris Hughton were just getting the results when he was sacked by owner Mike Ashley and Pardew was brought in on a long term deal.
The fans were not happy that Haughton were dismissed so it waits to be seen how the former Southampton, Charlton, West Ham and Reading coach will receive before kickoff.
When these two sides faced each other it is usually high scoring and with recent events between these two sides it could be a thriller.
Liverpool have won five of their last eight games and have recovered from a bad start under Roy Hodgson. They thrashed Aston Villa 3-0 on Monday Night Football but their form on the road has been questioned. Hodgson's side have lost five and managed just one win this season away from home.
However it must be said that Liverpool have an excellent record against Newcastle and the last time they travelled to St James' Park two years ago they managed a 5-1 win.
As it is now, Newcastle are currently on a poor run and have gone five matches without a win since their remarkable win at Arsenal.
The Magpies will be hoping that Pardew can provide them with the spark needed to get them off to winning matches.
Newcastle United Team News :
As for the team news, Pardew is hoping that midfielder Joey Barton can be fit in time after his return from a three match ban was hit by a slight groin injury which caused him to missed the 3-1 win against West Brom. Meanwhile, skipper Kevin Nolan is expected to be fit following the ankle problem which has kept him out the past two games.
Danny Guthrie could start this match despite being stretchered off at the Hawthorns with an ankle injury as the injury was not as bad as thought. Steve Harper played a reserve team game in midweek on his return from shoulder surgery but is not fully fit yet while Leon Best is recovering from an ankle problem.
Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson serve the final leg of their own three-match bans and Dan Gosling (knee), Ryan Taylor (ankle ligaments) Hatem Ben Arfa (double leg fracture) are still out.
Liverpool Team News :
For the visitors Liverpool, striker Fernando Torres returns to Liverpool's starting eleven. He did not feature last Monday as he was at the birth of his second child with Ryan Babel most likely to go to the bench.
Meanwhile, Captain Steven Gerrard is still a week away from making his comeback from a hamstring injury so is likely to keep the majority of the side that beat Villa withg the exception of Torres.
The Betting Verdict :
Take Liverpool to win and give the 1/4 bll here.
