Analysis:Rangers welcomes the visit of Manchester United knowing that a defeat here would leave Valencia needing just a draw from their meeting with Bursaspor to book their place in the last 16 of the Champions League.
As it seems now Walter Smith side looks set to play in the Europa League but they will still be clinging on to hopes to further progress into the Champions League.
Rangers enters this match knowing that they have managed just one win in their last 14 Champions League games and that was against Bursaspor way back in September.
They did pulled oof a shock surprised when they held United to a draw in the opening fixture but in that gamke they only had two shots at goal in the draw at the Theatre of Dreams.
Meanwhile Manchester United heads to Ibrox today knowing they will progress to the knockout stages should they avoid defeat. Much also depends on the result in the Valencia tie, United could also seal the top spot, offering them the chance to rest key men in the final match.
United does have a good record against Scottish sides going into this match , as they have lost only one of their last seven games against SPL oppositions. The Red Devils also have a good record on the road with with eight wins from their last nine European away games.
As for the team news ahead of this match, Walter Smith will give every chance for Sasa Papac 'every opportunity' to prove his fitness ahead of the crunch clash. If he fails to make the cut, then the Gers will waver from the 5-4-1 approach they have favoured in Europe this season.
Smith insisted he has other alternatives to cope if Papac does not feature. He will, however, be without Madjid Bougherra (hamstring), Maurice Edu (knee), James Beattie (hip and thigh) and Andy Webster (groin) for this match.
As for United, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic will be rested for this match. That means Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans will come into the side as replacements at the back four.
Wayne Rooney made his eagerly-anticipated return to action as a substitute against Wigan and is expected to start this match. Darron Gibson, Gary Neville, Owen Hargreaves and Michael Owen all missed training on Tuesday, while Darren Fletcher took a slight knock at the weekend and will be rested.
Dimitar Berbatov is likely to partner Rooney upfront.
