#25 BAYLOR BEARS
Baylor finds itself in a position to go bowling for the first time in 15 years, and they are ranked for the first time in 17 years. They know a loss here could put a big dent in their plans and goals, which are so close now. I expect them to fight all the way here against Texas, which is getting way too much respect due to that win over Nebraska.
In their 4 games this month, Baylor have racked up 600 yards of total offence per game and are ranked 5th in the country on offence. QB Robert Griffin is ranked 3rd in the country too, and they are clicking, having scored 30 or more in their last 5 games, so they really are riding some momentum here.
The Coach isn't the type to let his team suffer letdowns and give up on games. I saw him describe the season as being made of of 1 week seasons, saying the last win was last season and this was all that mattered, the practice put in here this week in Texas since Sunday to win this. They're basically treating it like a bowl game, and with Texas being big rivals, they have a lot they want to prove.
TEXAS LONGHORNS
Texas is favourite by this big number simply based on their reputation. That has to be true because Texas' results this season do not merit this number. Maybe 3 points, but 7?
Texas lost last week against Iowa State and I don't think that was a blip. People are thinking about that win against ranked Nebraska, but look around it...Texas have dropped 3 of their last 4 games!! The last time they won at home was against Wyoming. Before that they got beaten by UCLA. So where is the bright spot that gets them this lofty status for this one?
Defence. Texas are currently ranked 6th in total defence, but looky look, they are 33rd in scoring defence! I know they're ranked high, but they will have to deal with Baylor who have scored more than 30 in all but one of their games this season, including 5 straight!
BETTING VERDICT
Baylor don't even have to win this for us to win. I can see them remaining competitive throughout, with the danger of grabbing the outright win always present. Then there is the pride and competitive nature of the team, meaning even if behind, they will fight and grab a backdoor cover with a meaningless score. No way they lose by more than a touchdown. Take Baylor +7.5
