CLEMSON TIGERS (4-3)
Boasting a much better record than hosts Boston College, Clemson are on the road trying to get their first away win of the season. They come into this off a massive win, which should give them more than enough confidence to knock off an offensively weak BC.
Clemson beat Georgia Tech last week, 27-13 in front of a home crowd, so I really can't understand why they are favoured by less than a touchdown here. Is it because this is a road game? Or because they are winless on the road in 2 attempts this season? Either way, the oddsmaker is high, and I intend to rob him blind.
Clemson are scoring an average of 30 points per game and giving up just 18. That's 12 and last week they beat a very good opponent by more than that, 14. So just 6.5 is silly. I wish I could just write that down, but Gooner will grumble, so bear with me. QB Kyle Parker did not throw a single interception last week, which is encouraging, not that he throws many. And the running game was gashing Georgia Tech all over the shop, with Andre Ellington particularly good, with almost 170 yards on the ground over 20 carries including 2 runs into the end zone.
BOSTON COLLEGE (2-5)
The Eagles started the season 2-0, and have since nosedived, losing the last 5 on the trot, and in the process have gone 0-4 in ACC conference play. This is not a good side at all, make no mistake. They have not managed to score more than 21 points in any of those last 5 games.
In their last game, Boston College went down 24-21 against Maryland, having lost by a close margin the week before. It's easy to look at that and think they keep it close here but I reckon the close defeat will be hard to take and the heads will drop for this young bunch who just can't get anything going for themselves. 0-5. Wouldn't your head drop too?
Boston College are averaging just 19 points per game, and against Maryland last week they turned the ball over 3 times, with QB Chase Rettig, one of three starters, getting intercepted 2 times. This is not a good side!
