2010-10-30 - Manchester United vs Tottenham

Analysis:Manchester United goes into this match after needing help from Javier Hernandez in midweek to see off a stuboorn Wolves side. The Red Devils will aim to keep their good record against Spurs as they have won 14 and lost none of their last 18 Premier League meetings against Spurs, who last beat them way back in 1989.
Even though United has been in the headlines for the wrong reasons, it must be noted that they are still the only unbeaten side this season in the Premiership. Their downfall as been letting slip winning positions into draws. That happened against Fulham, Everton and West Brom to leave them 5 points behind Chelsea.
That defence were in question as they had to get the help from Hernandez to win that match 3-2. But expect a very different United side against Spurs in today's encounter.
As it is now, Tottenham are among the favourites to finish in the top four as they finished last season as they are just two points behind the group containing United, Manchester City and Arsenal chasing Chelsea.
And Harry redknapp could be distracted by the midweek showdown with European Champions Inter Milan to come in midweek ahead of this clash. But Redknapp has gone on record to state that his priority lies in the Premiership as it will give his side another chance to compete with the best in Europe once again next season.
As for the team news, United striker Hernandez can expect to start this match after his impact after being introduced from the bench in midweek and his double strike against Stoke in the 2-1 win. Due to the fact that Rooney is out with an ankle injury whioch could take longer to heal and Michael Owen is on the treatment table with a hamstring problem, Dimitar Berbatov remains the obvious choice to partner Hernandez, with Federico Macheda providing support from the bench.
Ryan Giggs is out with a hamstring injury which means Ferguson is likely to revert to the starting eleven who started the match against Stoke following his changes against Wolves in midweek.
As for the visitors, Spurs midfielder Wilson Palacios was handed his first league start for six weeks in the 1-1 draw with Everton last weekend. Though he was taken off at half-time, he could keep his place as Tom Huddlestone is still out as he is nursing an ankle injury. Ledley King is still out after his groin injury, while William Gallas and Younes Kaboul could continue their defensive pairing once again.
Rafael van der Vaart was on target once again against Everton and will look to impress further against United before starting against Inter Milan in midweek.
