LA DODGERS (72-73) Streak: W1
Los Angeles start Chad Billingsley tonight, but the righty's end season is not going well. He's been battling injuries all season and isn't in control of his stuff. He's walked 5 batters in 2 of his last 3 matches.
His season record is now 11-9 with a 3.65 ERA, and while the pitching of Billingsley continues to cause me concern in this final stretch, the offence too is a mess, and have not been giving Billingsley much run support in his matches.
In fact, in Billingsley's last 6 starts, the Dodgers scored a total of just 18 runs. Compared to what the Giants are doing for Matt Cain, that's nothing.
SF GIANTS (81-64) Streak: L1
Matt Cain goes for the home team today, and he has a 11-10 record with a 3.19 ERA for the season.
Unlike Billingsley, he seems to be getting stronger towards the end of the season, and has walked just 1 batter or less in all his last 6 starts.
In those last 6 starts, his offence has helped too, scoring 42 runs for the Dodgers. That will be especially helpful here at home, where Cain clearly loves to pitch. In 14 starts here, the righty is 7-3 with a 2.70ERA.
Cain looks solid, and will pitch deep into the game, before handing over to a very capable relief team.
BETTING VERDICT
Too many question marks over Billingsley and the Dodgers. I'm going with Cain and the Giants.
The Pick :
Giants to win
BEST BETTING TIP :
Take the San Francisco Giants @ 1.73 (Pinnacle)
