2010-09-15 - Real Madrid vs Ajax
A Sports Betting Pick by Cruiser
Analysis:Jose Mounrinho the new coach of Real Madrid will aim to get off to a good start when he take his team out against Ajax at the Santiago Bernabeu. And Real Madrid who are the most successful club in the competition history, have taken the crown on nine occasions, while their midweek opponents Ajax have lifted the trophy four times.
However, the home side have gone eight years since they last tasted success and have crashed out in the last 16 in each of the last six seasons.
And with European specialist Jose Mourinho now at the helm - a man who has taken the top prize with Porto and Inter Milan, they will be hoping to claim Europe's biggest trophy the Champions League once again.
But their opponents Ajaex will have other ideas as it has been 43 years since they last tasted defeat against Real. The Dutch outfit have emerged victorious in each of the last four meetings between the two sides.
However, Martin Jol's men have been away from the Champions League as the 2005/06 campaign representing the last time they played in the Champions League.
As for the team news, Mourinho will miss the services of Brazilian playmaker Kaka as he is recuperating from a knee operation since August. Fernando Gago will also be missing from the midfield, with sprained knee ligaments keeping him out of the side.
Ezequiel Garay (knee) and Raul Albiol (ankle) will play no part in this match which means that Pepe and Ricardo Carvalho will start at the back at the heart of the back four.
As for the visitors Ajax, they will not have the services of Evander Sno after he suffered a heart attack in a reserve fixture against Vitesse Arnhem on Monday and he is set to be out of the side for sometime. Jan Vertonghen must serve a one-game ban while Luis Suarez is also suspended so the attack will be a bit blunt.
The others missing from the lineup will be Kenneth Vermeer (Achilles), Nicolas Lodeiro (foot), Thimothee Atouba (knee) and Rasmus Lindgren (knee) as they are all out injured.
Take Real Madrid to win this match but only on the fixed odds.
Cheers and good luck,
