Football : England : The Championship
Venue : Portman Road, Ipswich
Tuesday 14th September 2010 - Kickoff pm
Ipswich Town
(3rd place, home record W1 D1 L0)
Roy Keane had a very disappointing and frustrating first season at Ipswich last season. Backed by the board, he bought badly and the team underperformed appropriately. The early stages of the season saw Town in relegation danger, but a string of draws saw them ease clear as the season progressed.
This year, Keane was frustrated by lack of success in the transfer market and they went into the season looking understrength and unfancied. New signings Martin Fulop in goal and Jason Scotland up front the only two incomings of real note.
But the tractor boys have hit the ground running, and are one of the early pacesetters sitting in 3rd place in the standings. The forward triumvirate of Scotland, Tamas Priskin and promising teenager Conor Wickham are a handful, and Town have only failed to score once in their five games to date.
In Tuesday night games at home, Ipswich have a W7 D11 L6 record and last won at home in midweek in the league two attempts ago.
Last five results for Ipswich Town :

H v Burnley D 1-1
A v Crystal P W 2-1
H v Bristol C W 2-0
A v Portsmouth 0-0
Ipswich Town Team News :
Ipswich are concerned about the fitness of centre back Darren O’Dea.
Queens Park Rangers
(1st place, away record W1 D1 L0)
QPR were a winner for us on Saturday, and the tricky fixtures come thick and fast as they travel to Roy Keane's resurgent Ipswich on Tuesday night. Unbeaten home or away, Neil Warnock’s side will need to overcome a painful record playing away from home on Tuesday nights.
QPR are traditionally a good home side and poor travellers anyway, but they have won only twice in the last 21 attempts away from home on a Tuesday night, the last time being 5 attempts ago.
However, the hoops are a different side under Warnock, and if anyone knows how to go to tough places like Ipswich and escape with a result it’s everyone’s favourite manager.
Last five results for QPR :
H v Barnsley W 4-0
A v Sheff U W 3-0
H v Scunthorpe W 2-0
A v Derby D 2-2
H v Middlesboro W 2-0
QPR Team News :
QPR have signed Spurs full back Kyle Walker on loan to cover injuries to both right backs.
Centre back Fitz Hall and new target man Rob Hulse remain doubtful.
Head to head
QPR have a W2 D3 L5 recent record at Portman Road and haven’t won here since 2005.
Last season: Ipswich 3 QPR 0
The Betting Verdict :
Two unbeaten teams very close in the standings, with draws in their recent form at respective home/away venues, with plenty of draws in Tuesday night games at this venue, and with the marginally superior (IMO) team the away side but they have a poor midweek away record.
At the biggest price of the three match outcomes the draw looks worth a small risk here.
The Pick :
Ipswich 1 QPR 1
