Following a successful return to the Championship last season where they finished an impressive 5th place and lost out in the play-offs, the Foxes seem to be suffering early signs of "second-season syndrome" as they find themselves joint custodians of bottom place with rivals Portsmouth.
Yet to win a match this season and picking up just one point at home so far, thanks to a goal-less draw against Middlesbrough, Nigel Pearson's men could probably do without a visit from an in-form Cardiff City side.
However, they will be buoyed by getting a point in the midlands derby against Coventry City at the weekend, with striker Andy King notching his second goal of the season in the league.
Cardiff City (2nd)
Cardiff City go into this game joint top with QPR on 13 points having won four and drawing the other in their first five matches, and following a solid 2-0 home win over recently relegated Hull City at the weekend, confidence must be at an all-time high in the Bluebirds camp.
Cardiff are scoring goals (11 in total) and have only conceded two so far, along with winning both away matches – 2-1 at Derby County and 2-0 at Portsmouth.
The signs are ominous even at this early stage, and if David Jones's men can improve on their consistency away from home, they’ll be a real force to be reckoned with in the latter part of the season I feel.
Cardiff beat Hull at the weekend without strikers Jay Bothroyd and Craig Bellamy, and I'm uncertain as to whether they'll figure in the squad for the trip to Leicester at this stage.
The Betting Verdict :
Leicester will be desperate to register their first win of the season, while The Bluebirds are flying at the moment (no pun intended).
But with the availability of Bothroyd and Bellamy unknown at this moment, I'm hedging my bets a little for this fixture – also, strange things seem to happen in midweek fixtures.
