Sligo Rovers are very much an in from side at the moment and sit in fourth position in the league table only 6 points behind leaders St Patricks Athletic and Shamrock Rovers but have played a games less. They have won 5 out of their last 6 games and have been impressing everyone with their excellent brand of football. Sligo have got results against the three sides above them in the league and are well in the fight for European football next season.
They have lost only once at home in their last 6 home games and that was to Shamrock Rovers. They led that game 1-0 only to have a man sent off and lose 2-1. Last week they showed great resilience at Bray Wanderers when having a players sent off early they still went on to win 3-1. Sligo have the league's top scorer in Padraig Amond who has 16 goals and well clear of the rest and along with former Cameroon Internation Joseph Ndo are sure to continue to create problems for defences this season. Sligo have beaten UCD twice already this season and will be expected to do so again this time.
After a poor enough start to the season UCD got going with a few excellent wins mid-sesaon over the likes of St Patricks Athletic and Dundalk and went to Sporting Fingal and recorded an impressive 2-1 win. Striker Ciaran Kilduff has been on excellent form netting 9 league goals and in third place in the top goalscorer charts.
However the last few weeks have seen them hit their worst run of the season and have slipped down to 7th place in the table. They have lost 5 of their lasat 7 games and manged just the one win in that time and that was at home to bottom side Bray Wanderers. Although they are proably safe of relegation they cant afford to keep losing or risk slipping into the relegation play off spot.
