A Sports Betting Pick by ROzsolt
Football: Romanian Liga 1
Venue: Stadion Municipal, Vaslui
Friday 30th July – Kickoff time: 20:30 GMT+2
FC Vaslui
Thanks to their owner who continued investing in the football club despite the difficult economical conditions in Romania, FC Vaslui, a club with no important history or tradition became one of the most powerful clubs in Romania over the last few years.
Vaslui finished third last season, which is the best performance in their history and were close to win their first ever trophy, but lost the cup final to CFR Cluj.
Maybe the most important change in their squad is the new coach, Lopez Caro from Spain. He is probably the best rated coach that activated in Romania mostly because he worked at Real Madrid for several years. In the 2005-2006 season, he was the head coach at Real Madrid for a 6 months period after Vanderlei Luxemburgo got sacked. Their best transfer this summer is Rodolfo Bodipo, a striker from Deportivo La Coruna.
Vaslui played in Bucharesti in their first match this season against Rapid, a match they lost 2-0. Rapid showed excellent passing skills, dominating the game without leaving their opponents any chances to create some danger. It was Lopez Caro’s first contact with the Romanian league and it proved to be a tuff one. He kept the same system as last year, 4-2-3-1 with no more than 2 changes in the squad.
FCM Targu-Mures
FCM is a relatively new team in Romania, it was founded in 2004 this being their first season in the first league. The city of Targu-Mures however has some tradition in our football trough ASA Targu-Mures a club that has been abolished in 2004.
Their coach, Adrian Falub is a specialist in promoting teams, this is his 3rd different club that he promoted in the first league but he showed his limits as a coach in the moment he made the contact with the first league. He was sacked from both U Cluj and Unirea Alba-Iulia within 6 months after promotion after disappointing results. In 31 games as a coach in Liga 1 he only won 3.
Targu-Mures started off on the wrong foot, losing at home 0-1 against FC Brasov. The difference between the two teams was not very visible, but the newly promoted FCM just don’t have enough quality to win a game yet. Their budget wasn’t substantial at all ( they are being financed by the authorities) so they could not afford any impressive transfers this summer.
The Betting Verdict :
FC Vaslui have not lost many points at home over the last couple of seasons, they are very solid in every compartment but still need some time to get used to the new coach and his tactics.
I think Vaslui should easily win this, their objective is to win the title for the first time so they cannot afford to lose points against a newly-promoted and probably won’t.
In order to survive in the first league, Targu-Mures will have to win their points at home because I don’t think they have the ability to upset any team from the upper half of the table on the road. The Pick :
FC Vaslui 3-1 FCM Targu-Mures
