Both teams had been expected to finish second in their respective groups but the World Cup has been producing a series of shocks so do not be surprised if another were to happen here.

And United States who had not been known to be a powerhouse in football, with American football taking centre stage there threw a surprise when they topped Group C to meet their African rivals, knocking England off top spot to face Germany instead.

USA finished the group as leaders thanks largely to London Donovan stoppage-time goal. It will not be easy for the Americans here as they come up against the only African side remaining in the tournament.

As for the team news, USA will welcome back Robbie Findley after he missed the Algeria game due to two yellow cards. Findley is expected to come into the side to replace Herculez Gomez who was taken out at half-time against the Algerians.

The other alternative are the likes of DaMarcus Beasley and Edson Buddle. Maurice Edu is likely to stay in the side after coming in for Jose Francisco Torres.

For Ghana, they could be without centre-back Isaac Vorsah as he is battling in time to get fit. Vorsah missed the draw against Australia through injury and has been on the bench against Germany since then. John Mensah did come on against Germany and played the full 90 minutes which suggest that Ghana could be kept unchanged.
