By all reports the Demons were ordinary against the Eagles last week. This weekend won’t be any easier as they travel to Darwin for a home match against the Power.
In the forward line the likes of number one draft pick Jack Watts and Brad Green will need to absorb some of the load while Matthew Bate and Jamie Bennell will need to contribute.
The team is very young and the midfield is no exception. High draft picks Tom Scully and Jack Trengove will need to be huge alongside Brent Moloney and James Mc Donald in the midfield for the Demons.
The defence has one shining light and it is Jack Grimes. He has creativity and poise beyond his years and will be one of the young Demons i expect to make the transition into an elite AFL footballer. The Dees will need the best from Grimes along with James Frawley to give them any sniff, as the Power as a dangerous forward line.
Port Adelaide Power (8th, 5-3) Form : LWWWL
The Power suffered a disappointing home loss to the Blues last weekend and knows that it is imperative to bounce back this week to keep themselves in the top 8. Heading up to Darwin I think that the Power will have the goods this week.
In defence the Power will need Carlile and Chaplin to return to form after Carlton’s forwards embarrassed them last week. They will have much easier opponents and I expect the defensive duo to show up in a big way.
In midfield the Port looks very good for the most part. David Rodan and Danyle Pearce continue to impress and their speed, agility and silky distribution will stand the Power in good stead on Saturday night. Dom Cassisi will need to fire also with effort from Kane Cornes also vital to the success of Port.
Robbie Gray will be the x-factor for the Power forward line. He will need to kick a few goals and this will allow the likes of Brett Ebert and Jason Davenport the luxury of more time and space near the goals.
The Betting Tip
I cannot see the Demons going to Darwin and beating the Power, in fact I feel it could be easy for the Power.
