Inter will remember that eight years ago that lost the Scudetto in a similar fixture facing Lazio back in 2002. Roma who are top of the table will hope neighbours Lazio can do them a favour and beat Inter Milan.

Question remains if tiredness will creep in after their exploits at the Nou Camp against Barcelona. Despite losing 1-0 they still progressed with 10 men to the final of the Champions League to face Bayern Munich now. And now the first European Cup Final since 1972 awaits on May 22.

Jose Mourinho’s men have to focus on this important match and the Coppa Italia Final against Roma on Wednesday. Mourinho is likely to keep faith in the side but could bring in Goran Pandev after he pulled out during warm up with a thigh injury. Cristian Ledesma and Coach Edy Reja are both suspended along with the injured Guglielmo Stendardo, Mourad Meghni, Francelino Matuzalem and Albano Bizzarr for Lazio. Roberto Baronio should get a rare start in midfield considering Ledesma’s absence from the side.

Their cause has not been helped by the fact that Sergio Floccari sprained his ankle during Thursday’s local friendly and remains a major doubt for this weekend. The good news is that they have Mauro Zarate as a good replacement. Another alternative is former Inter veteran Julio Ricardo Cruz.

For the record, Inter have yet to beat Lazio for 10 years in the serie A at tghe Stadio Olimpico. Nevertheless, that trend was broken by a 2-0 triumph in December 2006, followed by a 3-0 away win last season. Inter will want to get revenge after Lazio won the Italian Super Cup beating Inter 2-1 in Beijing at the start of the season.
