Vfl Bochum are having a turbulent season and they are on verge to drop out from the Bundesliga as they are placed 16th with 28 points, only one point above the dropping place. They have started this season fairly well and got several good results against stronger teams but in the second part of the season since the winter break they have been terrible. In that period they have recorded just two wins and together with Hannover they are the weakest teams with just twelve points gained since the winter break.
The coach Heiko Herrlich was sacked during the last week and immediately replaced with Dariusz Wosz who will be in charge of the team until the end of the current season, as there is no time for a better solution.
New coach Wosz can not count on the services of the striker Diego Klimowicz (hip problems) and the midfielder Christoph Dabrowski (ruptured muscle). The two important players of the team - Stanislav Sestak and Marc Pfertzel will be probably rested in this match and the coach will not take risks playing with them as they both are only one yellow card away from suspension, so he will try to prevent them from unexpected absence before the last round when Vfl Bochum will have their fate in their own hands as they will face Hannover 96 in the last and deciding match of the season.
