Fiorentina
Just three days after the match up against Inter in the context of Serie A, Fiorentina welcomes the Nerrazzuri in Florence for the 2nd leg of the Italian Cup. The win in this competition is arguably the last and most definite opportunity for Prandelli’s men to get a ticket to the European cups.
Things in Serie A don’t look so positive, thus big stakes are put on progression to the final. But in order to fulfill the task, Fiorentina will have to do what Chelsea and CSKA have subsequently failed to achieve: beat Inter in the return leg after losing in the first.
On Saturday Fiorentina put an a decent show to first let a 1-0 lead slip away and then score an equalizer to draw the game 2-2. Brazilian starlet Keirrisson was preferred over Gilardino and piad off Prandelli’s trust with a simple first half finish.
Inter Milan
Loss of 2 points at Artemio Franchi on Saturday cost Inter the leadership in Serie A. Mourinho is now sweating over the tough schedule, which will see Inter fight on the domestic front against Roma and try to overcome Barcelona in the Champions’ League semifinal.
Coppa Italia looks like a heavy burden at the moment, but having gone this far in the competition it would make no sense to just give up and preserve energy for something more significant.
Mourinho has not included Quaresma and Stankovic in the squad to face Fiorentina. Thiago Motta is set to make a return after missing Saturday’s fixture. It has not been announced if the Special One will decide to use a reserve side on Tuesday evening, but whatever the choice is Mourinho should still field a competitive 11.
Betting advice
Perhaps it's a bookies trap and I'm easily falling for it, but the offered lines here are just too good to deny. On Saturday Inter was rated as obvious favorites, now 3 days later the chances are in Fiorentina's favor.
Maybe I'm missing something here, but never mind the schedule, I strongly doubt, that Mourinho will sacrifice the Cup after going all the way to the semifinal.
Moroever every set-back is a blow to team's self-esteem, which is a vital point for the Portuguese specialist. If CSKA and Chelsea failed to do anything over 2 legs with Inter, weaker Fiorentina has every chance to continue the list.
