2010-04-03 - Leyton Orient vs Hartlepool United
A Sports Betting Pick by Armchair
Football : England : League One
Saturday 3rd April 2010 – Kickoff 3pm
It’s my first visit to the Matchroom Stadium this season for my next pick as hosts Leyton Orient take on lower table counterparts Hartlepool United in a very important fixture for both sides.
There’s only two points that separate these two sides in the table, as they both teams bid to pull away from the relegation zone.
Leyton Orient (16th) Home : 7-6-6 28:21
The O’s will be looking to bounce straight back and return to winning ways following their last home match which they lost 0-2 to Huddersfield Town.
This ended an impressive unbeaten run of six matches which saw Leyton Orient beat the likes of Yeovil Town 2-0, 5-0 demolition of Bristol Rovers & a 2-0 win over Walsall.
Three draws starting against Brighton 1-1, then good points earned against Leeds United 1-1 & Swindon Town 0-0 sets the O's up nicely for the visit of Hartlepool.
Overall, Leyton Orient’s home record stands at 7-6-6 28/21, however, striker Scott McGleish (11 goals) is doubtful and will need to pass a late fitness test. Experienced striker James Scowcroft will probably replace McGleish if he’s unfit.
The home team do still have the likes of striker Ryan Jarvis (6 goals) and midfielder Sean Thornton (5 goals, 5 assists) in the locker, along with defender Tamika Mkandawire (7 goals) who has scored valuable goals this season.
Hartlepool United (20th)
Hartlepool United are enduring a wretched run of twelve games without a win on the road, indeed their last win was at Swindon Town back in October last year.
Since then, only draws against Brighton (3-3) and Tranmere (0-0) have interrupted a sequence of ten straight defeats.
To add insult to injury, they have scred only 3 goals in their last six away games; 0-2 v Bristol Rovers, 1-2 v Norwich City, 0-1 at Millwall, 0-4 at Yeovil Town, 0-0 at Tranmere & 2-3 at Southampton.
Defender Gary Liddle and leading scorer midfielder Andy Monkhouse (9 goals) are both rated doubtful for the trip to Orient, but striker Adam Boyd (7 goals) remains a threat while striker James Brown (3 goals) should also return.
The Betting Verdict :
Given the Pools’ poor run of form lately though, I can’t see past a Leyton Orient win at The Matchroom.
