Aussie Rules Football : AFL Premiership
Saturday, 3rd April 2010 - Start 2:10pm local
This game looks to be one way traffic from start to finish.
Two teams at contrasting ends of the spectrum with the Demons hoping to develop throughout this year with a youthful team, whereas the Pies are going to be strong contenders once again.
Collingwood
The Magpies put the sword to a very good Bulldogs side last weekend, and did it with apparent ease. The Collingwood forward line is unpredictable, but in a good way, with the likes of Cloke and Anthony rotating as the big targets, but Didak and Medhurst also chiming in with ground level goals.
Both Didak and Medhurst also have the ability to lead strong and the signs are very ominous for the Demons defence this on Saturday.
The Defence did quite well against a Dogs team that usually posts big scores, especially at Etihad Stadium, where the match was played. Harry O'Brien was huge and he will be a key figure coming off the Pies half-back line to create much of their forward thrusts.
This match will be at the MCG and Collingwood's run through the middle is expected to be the key factor. They ooze class in Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury and have many players who can stand in for periods of time in Luke Ball, Steele Sidebottom and Leon Davis can run through the middle too.
Melbourne Demons
The Demons were hammered by a hungry Hawthron side last weekend and will try to end the embarrasment. They were outclassed in every section of the field last week and this time appears no exception.
Some of their young draft picks in Tom Scully and Jack trengrove showed glimpses last week, but their touches were no more than mere consolation as they were out of the game after the first quarter had ended.
There is not a lot more to say about the Demons except they concede quickly and struggle to score. That being said the signs all point to a fair belting from the Pies.
The Tip
Collingwood are winning this game convincingly and if Melbourne win it will be one of the biggest upsets in recent years, and this will be understood by watching both teams last week.
