Saturday 27th March 2010 – Kickoff 3pm
I’m sticking my neck out on this one when I say there’s some easy money to be made with Colchester this week, and in my opinion the bookies have missed a trick by pricing this as they have.
Colchester United (6th) Home : 13-2-2 30:17
Sixth-placed Colchester entertain relegation candidates Wycombe Wanderers, needing all three points to stave off seventh-placed Huddersfield’s play-off challenge.
Colchester are unbeaten at home in their last six matches (their only loss in an incredible run of 15 matches was the 0-5 loss at the hands of Norwich City – no disgrace there).
The U’s possess one of the best home records in the league at 13-3-2 30/17 and striker Kevin Lisbie (11 goals, 5 assists) leads the way in the scoring stakes, but assisted by Clive Platt (7 goals, 6assists), midfielder Anthony Wordsworth (8 goals) and Nigerian striker Kayode Odejayi (9 goals).
Birmingham City left-back Franck Quedrue has joined the U’s on loan and will add some quality at the back as well as going forward.
Wycombe Wanderers (23rd) 2-7-9 22:38
Wycombe by contrast are now fighting for their League One lives and are seven points adrift from the safety zone and Tranmere Rovers.
The Swans have won only one game on the road in their last nine, and that was a 3-2 win at Bristol Rovers. Their away record stands at 2-7-9 22/38 and it’s hard to see how they can halt this dismal run of form.
Wycombe's leading scorer is striker Matt Harrold (8 goals) but he seems to be fighting a lone battle up-front with very little in the way of support or creativity.
THe Betting Verdict :
As long as Colchester keep Harrold quiet, they should win this one comfortably.
