Analysis:Arsenal can go top of the Premiership for a few hours if they can beat Birmingham here and hope Aston Villa can upset Chelsea in the other match.
Birmingham enters this match having lost two consecutive games and have failed to win in three games. That has severely dented their hopes of qualifying for Europe now.
But worse of all, Birmingham have only won one of their 11 Premier League meetings with Arsenal to date and that was way back in May 2005. The home side are , however, unbeaten in their last 11 top-flight fixtures on home soil, with their success this season built on a good support from their fans.
But Arsenal are in good form and are just two points below Champions Manchester United. They have managed six successive victories in the league, their best run since October 2007 when they won seven in a row. The Gunners have also a score to settle as back in February 2008, their dreams were dashed after a 2-2 draw. But the game was best remembered in a the horrific broken leg suffered by Eduardo in the challenge by Blues defender Martin Taylor.
The player on form for Arsenal will be Cesc Fabregas. He has scored in his last four Premiership games.
As for the team news, Birmingham have no fresh injury or suspension concerns ahead of this game. McLeish will however be without the likes of Garry O'Connor (hip/thigh) and Lee Carsley (ankle). Gregory Vignal is back in action following a calf problem, and made the bench against Blackburn in midweek, but is still lacking fitness.
Meanwhile for the visitors Arsenal, they will be without defender Thomas Vermaelen, who serves a one-match ban. Veteran centre-half Mikael Silvestre is expected to fill in alongside Sol Campbell, while striker Nicklas Bendtner should start after an ankle problem.
William Gallas (calf) has returned to training, and Holland forward Robin van Persie is stepping up his recovery from several months out with ankle ligament damage b ut this match has come too soon for either of them. The likes of Aaron Ramsey (broken leg), Kieran Gibbs (foot) and Johan Djourou (knee) remain sidelined.
