Analysis:Manchester United travels to face Bolton knowing that they can carry on as leaders after this match after beating Liverpool 2-1 and that was good enough to take them above Arsenal in the title race. Even though Chelsea managed a win in midweek now it is essentially a three horse race for the Premiership title.
But United will have to be wary that they do not suffer any injuries ahead of the Champions League tie with Bayern Munich. Meanwhile Bolton have given themselves a lifeline of staying in the Premiership under the guidance of Coyle, who has guided them eight points clear of the drop places with seven games remaining.
Bolton have managed important points from the teams around them beating the likes of Wolves, West Ham and Wigan in recent matches. They were however beaten against Everton which brought them down to earth.
When these sides met earlier this season it finished in a 2-1 win for United. Bolton will want to cause an upset here and it does not get any easier for them as they have games against Champions League chasing Aston Villa and a trip to Chelsea still to come.
As for the team news, despite news that Rooney has picked up a knee injury, he has been certified as fit to start. Rooney had sustained a problem earlier this month and appeared to be limping after the Liverpool clash. Paul Scholes is in contention to start for the trip after recovering from an ankle injury, as is Ryan Giggs who returned last week following a five week lay-off with a broken arm.
Further good news is that defender John O'Shea has resumed training and should start sometime in April.
As for Bolton, they will welcome back defender Gary Cahill after being out for the past two months. He played 90 minutes for the reserves on Monday and he will definitely feature now. And after Gretar Steinsson was sent-off during the defeat to Everton, Coyle will have to make changed in defence. Therefore we could see Sam Ricketts being brought in.
